The city is repainting the street lines so there are cones all down the center of the road. Except for one cone. That one is laying on its side in the middle of the lane. People are driving around it to avoid smooshing it. I’m sure the city appreciates that. As one car passes, they roll down the window to inform me.
“There’s a cone in the road.”
Yes. I am aware, and I’m currently trying to figure out how the lady who ran said cone over and deposited it in the middle of the lane didn’t see it. Like, she didn’t even try to swerve around it as she was pulling out of the parking lot. She bowled right over it.
It’s bright orange! How do you miss that?
Also, I’m the school crossing guard. It’s not my job to run into the road to pick up cones people run over. About 5 minutes later, the city truck came back and did that. Just because I have a bright yellow vest on doesn’t mean I have anything to do with whatever reasons there are cones on the road.
