It’s 5 minutes after school started.
A car slows. The window rolls down, and the driver yells at me, “I gotta drop them off.”
Okay, lady, but you’re not supposed to…
Oh, she’s on the sidewalk.
Now, she’s parked on the sidewalk.
Kids get out. Grandma gets out. She’s talking to someone about not knowing where to go. But the kids get inside and she manages to get off the sidewalk without too much hassle. (Although, it would have been hilarious if she backed into the no parking sign while doing so.)
As she drives past me once more, she slows. The window rolls down. She then proceeds to apologize profusely to me, explaining she’s never had to drop the grand kids off and she has no idea where to go and they’re very late and she didn’t even realize she was on the sidewalk and she’s very sorry.
At that point, I just had to laugh. I told her where to go next time and not to worry.
I mean, I can’t be mad when provided with this banger of a story.
Yes. Have one of those older folks living with us. It's interesting! I used to have one of those bumper stickers-if you don't like the way I drive, stay off the sidewalk! It must be a thing! Great story, Patricia!
Apologies and kindness make it pretty difficult to get riled up.
